Chase adds Wyndham as new hotel partner: Should you transfer your points?

Should You Shift Your Chase Points to Wyndham?
Chase Ultimate Rewards has welcomed Wyndham Rewards as its latest hotel transfer partner. But is this a smart move for travelers? Our deep dive suggests that for most, the value lies elsewhere.
The New Partnership Unveiled
Chase's Ultimate Rewards has added Wyndham Rewards to its roster of transfer partners, offering a 1:1 point transfer ratio. While this provides more flexibility for cardholders, the real question is whether it presents a beneficial path for maximizing point value.
The Value Question
Chase points are valued at 2.05 cents each, whereas Wyndham points come in at 1.1 cents. With Wyndham lacking luxury properties like Hyatt or Marriott, transferring may often lead to lesser value returns, unless timed perfectly during high cash fare periods.
When To Transfer
On occasion, timing redemptions during peak travel could elevate your savings significantly. For instance, during a high-demand holiday, some travelers have indeed managed to extract more than 3 cents per point using Wyndham. But these cases are exceptions rather than the rule.
"The broader value lies in strategic timing rather than consistent reward," a travel expert noted.
