Family's Adventure Takes a Terrifying Turn in Moab's Pritchett Canyon
A spring break getaway in Utah鈥檚 picturesque but perilous backcountry turned into a nightmare for one family after an unexpected fall from a cliff. The family鈥檚 trek through Moab鈥檚 Pritchett Canyon quickly became a rescue mission for first responders when a parent fell 70 feet down a deceptively steep cliffside.
"The ubiquitous advice to 'Be Careful' is sound and sometimes bad things happen to good people," commented the rescue team.

The family's hike, meant to capture the breathtaking rock formations, split them up as one parent and child walked ahead. As the other parent, trailing behind, approached the canyon鈥檚 edge, they slipped, leading to the harrowing fall witnessed by the child.
Rescue efforts were swift and challenging as a helicopter landed 150 yards from the injured. Despite the critical condition and severe injuries involving "open fractures and possible internal injuries," the rescue operation, using advanced gear, lasted three arduous hours.
What this really means: such incidents highlight the hidden dangers in popular hiking spots, urging outdoor enthusiasts to exercise caution.
The injured hiker remains hospitalized, as the story serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of the wilderness and the importance of safety precautions in adventurous terrains.
