Air New Zealand’s Long-Awaited Skynest Bunk Beds Are Now Available for Booking

Experience Comfort in the Skies: Air New Zealand's Skynest Bunk Beds Now Ready for Booking
For weary travelers on ultra-long hauls, Air New Zealand offers a dream reprieve: Skynest bunk beds, set to transform sky-high sleep when they debut in November.
The Breaking Point
This November, passengers on Air New Zealand's ultra-long-haul flights can finally drift into a peaceful slumber aboard Skynest—a cluster of six bunk bed-style sleeping pods. Positioned between coach and premium economy, these lie-flat beds mark a world-first in economy air travel comfort, offering a much-needed upgrade for those enduring journeys lasting up to 18 hours.
Beneath the Surface
The introduction of the Skynest comes as a part of Air New Zealand’s sleep-centric strategy for long-haul flights. Equipped with pillows, sheets, and mood lighting programmed to gently wake sleepers at the end of their session, the sleep pods offer an oasis of rest at $495 for a four-hour nap. This innovative step follows earlier initiatives like the Skycouch, which revolutionized economy travel space back in 2011.
The Ripple Effect
Beginning with flights between New York and Auckland, the Skynest is set to transform passengers’ experiences, facilitating more restful journeys. As the airline navigates rising fuel costs and logistical challenges, they plan to extend the availability of these pods to more routes, underlining a commitment to passenger comfort and innovative travel solutions.
